The Orange-cheeked (Barraband's) parrot is my favourite. They always
sneak unannounced into the area of the claylick. Often the first
time they are seen is actually on the clay. They don't engage in
the dramatic dance or perch prominantly like most of the other species.
As their numbers build on the clay, it is surprising to think that
so many must have been hidden in the surrounding vegetation. And
although they are cute at the best of times, with a permanent blush,
catching a glimpse of one or more in flight is what makes my day
as the brilliant red under-wings contrast with their general emerald-green
colour.
